Introduction:
To ensure safe and reliable supply of energy from generating station to transmitting and distributing it to consumers, the substation equipment needs to be in healthy state to fulfil this guarantee. The powerful multi-functional substation test system CPC 100 is a cost-effective, time-saving solution for substation testing and maintenance.
Application:
FAP Power Solutions, provides with a testing and commissioning of substation equipment like generators, transformer, circuit breakers, and protective relays to ascertain their adherence to operational standards. FAP Power Solutions opted for CPC 100 for testing and commissioning tasks, citing its adaptability and dependability. The CPC 100 enabled us to conduct primary injection tests on the protective relays, ensuring their proper functioning in fault scenarios. Using the CPC 100, electrical tests on various assets can be performed:
- Current Transformers, Voltage Transformers and Power Transformers Power lines High-voltage (HV) cables Grounding systems Rotating machines GIS systems Protection relays Switchgear and circuit breakers IEC 61850 installations

The power system serves as the core of our energy infrastructure. Fault current may harm the primary asset like transformer and therefore power transformer should be reliable for fault-free performance. Due to ageing of transformers, regular testing and assessment is must. The tests on critical components like tap changer and bushing is carried out using CPC 100 and determines transformer health conditions. CPC 100 together with CP SB1 can test transformer three phases as well as tap changer.

Main Features and Advantages:
- Comprehensive Testing Capabilities: The CPC 100 is designed to replace multiple individual testing devices, simplifying testing procedures and reducing the need for additional equipment.
- Time and Cost Efficiency: By streamlining testing processes, the CPC 100 helps in reducing testing time and associated costs.
- Enhanced Safety: The CPC 100 ensures safe testing practices by providing high currents and voltages required for testing, all while maintaining the safety of personnel and equipment.
- Versatility: The CPC 100 can perform a wide range of tests, including primary injection tests, ratio tests, insulation resistance tests, and more, making it suitable for various applications.
- User-Friendly Interface: Operating the CPC 100 is user-friendly whether through the integrated front panel or the Primary Test Manager TM (PTM) software, making it accessible to both experienced and beginners.
CPC 100 offers up to 800A or 2kV (2 kA or 12 kV with a booster) and up to 5 kVA across a frequency range of 15 to 400 Hz or 400 A DC. The CPC 100’s adjustable output frequency enables the utilization of test frequencies that differ from the mains frequency, providing highly effective suppression of mains-related interference. This capability allows the CPC 100 to deliver precise results even in exceptionally noisy environments.
Powered by single-phase, the CPC 100 can produce up to 800A AC (2000 A with CP CB2 current booster) for injection into the CT’s primary side, thus enables us to test its ratio, polarity, and burden. For the measurement of the excitation curve, the CPC 100’s output is linked to the secondary terminals of the core. During an automated test sequence, the CPC 100 records the excitation curve, presenting the knee point voltage and knee point current (in accordance with IEC/IEEE standards). It can automatically demagnetize the core.
CPC provides 100A DC for carrying out winding resistance test and up-to 2kV for the transformer ratio measurements. Compact design of CPC 100 allows for on-site testing and it is easy to carry anywhere. It offers various operating modes like PTM software but for quick results, one uses built-in front panels. Around 50 types of tests are provided by CPC 100 including special tests. For power factor
testing it offers up to 15kV, for voltage withstand up to 70kV and for primary injection up to 2000A. To assess the grounding system, CPC 100 along with CPC CU1 is considered the optimal solution.
Throughout the commissioning process, the engineers utilize the CPC 100 to conduct ratio tests on the transformers, confirming their performance and correct configuration. They also employed the device to assess the insulation resistance of the cables, identifying potential faults before they could cause operational disruptions.
A significant advantage of the CPC 100 was its capability to generate high currents and voltages safely. This enabled the engineers to simulate real-world conditions maintaining the safety of both personnel and equipment.
Conclusion:
In summary, the CPC 100 allowed for the substation’s commissioning to be completed successfully. Its capacity to conduct various tests with precision and safety guaranteed the electrical system’s compliance and future reliability. FAP Power Solutions chooses CPC 100 for testing and commissioning, reducing the risk of danger in the electrical engineering domain
